About the Author, Gunnar Harding

Gunnar Harding Gunnar Harding (born 1940) started as a jazzmusician, studied painting in Stockholm, and made his literary debut in 1967. He has published – in addition to translations and non-fiction – sixteen volumes of poetry. He was co-editor of the prestigious Swedish literary quarterly ARTES and of the English-language annual ARTES International. In 1992 he was awarded the Bellman Prize by the Swedish Academy; 1993 saw publication of a comprehensive selection of his poetry, covering the years 1969-1990. In 1995 he was awarded Svenska Dagbladets Literature Prize in recognition of his important role in Sweden’s literary life since the 1960s, and in 2001 he won the prestigious Övralid Prize. About the Translator, Robin Fulton

Robin Fulton Robin Fulton is a Scottish poet and translator. Recent poets translated include Norwegian Olav Hauge (Anvil Press Poetry, London, 2003) and Swedes Tomas Tranströmer (New Directions, N.Y. 2006),Harry Martinson and Lennart Sjögren (from Bloodaxe). A bilingual selection of his own poems, translated and published by Margitt Lehbert, appeared in 2008 (see www.rugerup.de)

About the Translator, Anselm Hollo

Anselm Hollo

Anselm Hollo is the author of more than thirty books, most recently the essay collection Caws & Causeries and Notes on the Possibilities and Attractions of Existence: New and Selected Poems 1965-2000, which received the San Francisco Poetry Center's Book Award for 2001. His work has been widely anthologized and translated into Finnish, French, German, Swedish, and Hungarian. His translation of Pentti Saarikoski's Trilogy received the 2004 Harold Morton Landon Translation Award from the Academy of American Poets. He is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry, two grants from The Fund for Poetry, and the Government of Finland's Distinguished Foreign Translator's Award. A native of Helsinki, Finland, he has lived in the United States since 1967, teaching poetics and translation at colleges and universities. He is a Professor of Writing and Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, where he lives with his wife, visual artist Jane Dalrymple-Hollo.
